ProfCom is the NUJ’s Professional Training Committee, which looks after the union’s professional training courses, training issues within colleges and universities and all areas of student membership. It also examines other professional issues, such as standards and regulation.
It was established by a decision of the Delgates’ Meeting (DM) (the union’s highest decision-making body), and members of ProfCom are elected by DM delegates. There are six elected members of ProfCom, but it can co-opt two extra members, including the student coordinator. The NUJ’s Education and Training Officer also sits on ProfCom as the servicing officer.
